Husky Energy reaffirmed its commitment to the environment by renewing its support of the Husky Energy Endangered Species Reintroduction Program. A $250,000 donation that will allow the Calgary Zoo to expand its endangered species program and focus on six endangered species in Canada. It will also assist the Calgary Zoo’s Centre for Conservation Research to become North America’s leader in reintroduction research. Husky has been a long time supporter of Duck’s Unlimited Canada’s community-based conservation projects across Canada. In 2008, Husky announced a $125,000 contribution to restore more than 300 acres of wetlands land waterfowl habitat in northern Alberta, near Cold Lake. On the East Coast, a $300,000 donation to the Bowring Park Foundation was used for the revitalization of the fountain pond. The features of the pond will also be used to help support environmental education programs with local schools and community groups.
